Company Background & History

Seng Choon Plywood (M) Sdn Bhd., is a private owned company and founded in 1989 located in Kedah, West Malaysia with land area of 28.5 hectare. It commenced its first production line in decorative wood panel manufacturing likes polyester plywood, paper overlay, and PVC overlay.

In year 1995, due to fast housing development in our country and high demand of the PVC Door, we expanded our production line to PVC Door products such as PVC Solid Door, PVC Folding Door and UPVC Plusdor ( Q-Box).

In 2004, we have implemented Fancy Wood Panel to fulfill the customer demand and market trend. The Fancy Veneers are natural wood where we sliced the natural wood log likes Nyatoh, lamination board likes Finger Joints Rubberwood, Mersawa into the veneer then laminated onto Plywood, MDF Board and Chipboard. Besides the natural wood veneers, the engineered wood veneers are also available.

While our business is highly depending on natural veneer, we also concern of our natural environment. Therefore, we implement an innovation green product, Direct Printed Plywood in year 2005. The main raw materials of this product are waterborne printing ink and UV Coating.

As part of the company’s efforts to aggressively seek and implement ways of being more environmentally conscious, in year 2007 our company had invested about RM30 million to venture into research and development by using the Oil Palm Trunk (OPT, which produced from oil palm biomass) to produce plywood. We have successfully implemented a technological breakthrough process to produce the Oil Palm Based Plywood (OPT Plywood).

The characteristics of the OPT Plywood likes flat surface, and strength of the OPT Plywood is suitable for laminating the pattern paper, veneer lamination as well as direct print. Besides, for furniture industries used, the OPT Plywood also suitable for packaging and construction industries. OPT Plywood being lightweight and environmentally friendly is already readily acceptable by local and oversea buyers.

In general, the mechanical strength properties of oil palm trunk plywood meet the strength requirements as stipulated in the Japanese Standard Method (JAS233:2003).

In Malaysia, we build up a reputation as a responsible decorative wood panel manufacturer for the past 20 years and have been able to build a good supply network between West and East Malaysia with the support by our brilliant and dedicated work force.
